WIDOWS CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION: BENUE & PLATEAU STATES
The 2023 December conferences held in Benue and Plateau
respectively. Bege for Gobe team arrived Benue on Monday 27th November, 2023
held the programme and departed on Thursday 30th.
Widows shared testimonies of how they encountered crisis in
their areas and how God saved them even though their husbands were
killed.
The ministry of the word was impactful and new lives were
born into the kingdom during this event. Speakers at this conference were Mrs
Yemisi Madamori, Barr Mrs Ihechi Olanrewaju and Mrs Yinka Bako.
A special session of prayers was taken to pray for widows
carrying pregnancies and suckling babies.
The conference ended with the distribution of Christmas food
packages to each widow containing rice, cooking oil, salt, seasoning and
washing soap, including wrappers. There were 108 widows. The widows came along
with their children and we held a programme for them as well and distribute
snacks and drinks to them. Some of them got croc shoes.
Our appreciation to
- Linus
Aer and Isaac Ihwakaa missionaries of Agape Missions in Benue for being on
ground helping with logistics.
- Pastor
Deji Olanrewaju and his wife Ihechi for helping with logistics and
movements, etc
- Pastor
and Mrs Peter Nguyen of Determination Christian Global Ministry for
allowing us use their church as venue.
The Christmas conference in Plateau drew about 400 widows
from different local government areas. Widows had quite a lot to thank God for.
There were special presentations.
The bible study committee decided to honor and to decorate
some widows who have been regular and consistent in attending bible
studies. It was a beautiful scene as Rev Bayo Famonure gave each of them
a handshake of encouragement, decorated them with a Santa cap and a gift. This
was to challenge other widows, especially those who have not been attending the
bible studies.
Apostle Tanko Elam delivered the word and encouraged the
widows to put to use all that they are being taught under the umbrella of Bege
for Gobe. Quite a number of them gave their lives to Christ after the
message.
The "One widow, one wrapper"project
was brought to birth in this programme . Every widow present received 6
yards of African Print ( Ankara wrappers ) to go home with. Christmas food
items like rice, vegetable oil, seasoning and salt were also distributed. It
was a joyful occasion indeed!!!
One of the supporters of the wrapper project, in person of
Gen. Oshinowo, was present throughout the occasion to share in the joy of
reaching out to these vulnerable women.
Everyone went back home thanking God for the gift of His
Son, Jesus Christ, the reason for Christmas.
Many thanks to Honourable Justice S. Williams who at her
60th birthday donated 60 wrappers. May her life after 60 be more pleasant and impactful
than the ones before 60.
